Falls have consistently trended as one of the most common causes of work related injuries and deaths.  They also are consistently amongst the most frequently cited violations from OSHA’s regulatory compliance programs.  Minimizing the risk of falls in the workplace through hazard recognition and prevention strategies has proven return on investment.  This skill can have direct impact on reducing injuries direct and indirect costs.  This course covers the OSHA fall protection standards for construction and general industry as well as an overview of fall prevention methods.  Course topics include principles of fall protection, conventional and non-conventional fall protection techniques, components and limitations of fall arrest systems, and OSHA standards and policies regarding fall protection.  Students will participate in workshops demonstrating the inspection and use of fall protection equipment, residential and commercial fall protection, training requirements, and developing a fall protection program.
