Confined spaces present some unique hazards in the workplace.  OSHA has recently approved a new confined space standard for the construction industry.  This course will provide attendees with the ability to recognize confined space hazards and minimize risk of injury associated with these hazards.

Certain workplaces have confined spaces.  Some common examples include manholes, crawl spaces, and tanks.  These spaces are not designed for continuous occupancy and are difficult to exit in the event of an emergency.  Life-threatening hazards including but not limited to toxic substances, explosions, electricity, and asphyxiation can be present in confined spaces.  OSHA has recently promulgated legislation for a new confined space standard in the construction industry.  This course covers the safety and health hazards associated with permit-required confined space entry in the construction industry. Course topics include recognition of confined space hazards, identification of permit and non-permit required confined spaces, use of instrumentation to evaluate atmospheric hazards, ventilation techniques, development and implementation of a confined space program, proper signage, and training requirements. This course features workshops on permit entry classification and program development.
