This 3-day EPA approved course is designed to meet the AHERA requirements for those individuals inspecting buildings for asbestos. Information will be provided to assist in the planning, implementation and documentation of the inspection process. This course is a prerequisite to AHERA Management Planning for Asbestos. This course will include fit-testing of all students and hands-on practice in inspecting a building for asbestos containing materials.

This course is an EPA-approved course and is approved by the State of North Carolina. If you are involved in asbestos abatement outside North Carolina, please check with that state to verify this University of North Carolina course will be accepted in that state. Examination Information

A closed book examination of 50 multiple - choice questions will be offered to individuals successfully completing the AHERA Inspector's Course. Passing score will be a minimum of 70%. Accreditation as an inspector under AHERA is based upon course attendance, participation, meeting the requirements set forth by the state in which you are requesting accreditation and passing the examination.
