This course is designed for health and safety professionals with little or no background in toxicology. Upon completion of the course, students will be familiar with the general toxicology associated with most chemical classes. They will also understand the unique, more serious, toxicology of individual chemicals within each chemical class. An overview of how to search for toxicology information, find pertinent standards, regulations, and guidelines for chemicals of interest to the workplace will be presented.

Survey of the general toxicology of the chemical classes; principles of toxicology; workplace exposure routes; hazard classifications; occupational standards (TLVs, PELs, IDLHs); guidelines (TRI, ERPGs, MCLs); searching for toxicology information; and dealing with multiple chemical exposures.
