This week-long course is designed to provide the attendee with a single source of information for establishing and maintaining a respirator program that meets the OSHA requirements outlined in 29 CFR 1910.134. The new OSHA Assigned Protection Factors will be covered in the course. The course is appropriate for individuals who are just starting respirator programs as well as those with established programs in need of updating. Much of the course is taught with hands-on experience using a wide selection of respirators. Class size will be limited. Bring a scientific calculator to use in class.

Objectives

Upon completion, attendees will be able to organize, implement, and evaluate respirator programs

Content

Components of a respirator program; Advantages and limitations of respirators; Employee training; Medical evaluations for employees using respirators; Description of respirators; Selection, use, and maintenance of respirators; Respiratory system physiology. Math Review and Use of Scientific Calculator will be presented at the Marriott Norfolk Waterside on Sunday, August 3 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

Meeting Times

Course begins Monday, August 4 at 8:00 am and ends Friday, August 8 at 11:00 am

Attendees should bring a calculator. Although not required, students are encouraged to bring a laptop computer with a CD drive.
