This two-day course follows the NIOSH guidelines
for the pulmonary function technician training.

Objectives
The course
is designed to assist healthcare professionals
and plant personnel who are resonsible for administering
Respiratory Surveillance Programs. Lecture, group
practice and demonstrations are used to train students
in the proper techniques for administering a pulmonary
function test.
Content
Purpose and
objectives of a Respiratory Surveillance Program;
Anatomy and physiolgy of the respiratory system;
Quality assurance measures/calibration checks;
Specific test parameters and their significance;
Subject preparation/proper test
procedures; Recognition of unacceptable tracings
and improperly performed tests; Types of spirometers;
Calculations/interpretations
of test results; Recordkeeping.
