Implementation of ergonomic interventions is a proven method for reducing injuries, increasing productivity, and lowering costs in the workplace. This course will deliver a formal definition of Ergonomics, as well as provide participants with the necessary skills to identify and eliminate physical risk factors that may lead to ergonomic-related injuries in the workplace. An active learning approach will be used with participants having the opportunity to apply the tools and concepts covered in the course. This is an introductory level course.

Course Objectives

  • Identify the fundamentals of ergonomics.
  • Review the anatomy, physiology and appropriate medical case management of musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace.
  • Discuss how to both identify and reduce or eliminate risk factors within the workplace that may contribute to the development of musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Identify the tools and methods necessary for conducting ergonomic evaluations at their work sites.
  • Discuss examples of ergonomic interventions that have been successful in multiple industries.

Credit

  • This course is approved for 1 Elective Credit for all Tech Programs.
  • 2.5 ABIH (Category 4)
  • 1.5 BCSP
  • CEUs requested

Course begins Monday, August 4 at 8:00 am and ends Wednesday, August 6 at 11:00 am.
