Course
May 3-6, 2010
Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Hazardous Materials Management is the
application of scientific, engineering and managerial
technology to identify, evaluate and eliminate or reduce
risks involving conditions and practices related to hazardous
materials over their total life cycles, including ultimate
disposal.
Why Certification? Environmental
programs are vital to our public health and safety. Within
that field, the management of hazardous materials requires
proven and unquestionable skill and competence. Quality
control over the professionals involved in programs of
national importance, and particularly of public safety,
is best accomplished through certification.
Principle objectives of the Certified
Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM):
- provides credentialed recognition to those
professionals engaged in the management and
control of hazardous materials
- fosters continued professional development
of certified hazardous materials managers
- facilitates the transfer of knowledge and
experience among professionals and organizations
vitally concerned with hazardous materials
management
- provides government, industry, and academia
with a mechanism for identifying hazardous
materials management professionals who have
met the exacting standards for certification
