Put your data collection to use to add value to your health and safety programs!  This 2 1/2 day course prepares students to evaluate the relationships between exposure to workplace contaminants and workers' health.  The course reviews the main concepts of epidemiology (i.e. surveillance) as they apply to occupational health.  The course will help the students improve their understanding of health and disease and to apply this knowledge to better control and prevent health problems in the workplace and promote positive work practices.

Objectives

  • Describe the systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of health data;
  • Review investigation of acute or long-term health problems; 
  • Discuss evaluation of epidemiologic data from others;
  • Describe scope and methods, study design; data collection; casual inference; and the role of statistics; and
  • Discuss exposure assessment and measurement of disease risk.
