Upon completion of the course, students will be able to utilize basic principles of toxicology such as dose response, exposure routes, thresholds, hazard v. risk, as well as acute, subacute and chronic characteristics of chemical exposure. An overview of target organs, issues of carcinogenicity, mutagenicity and reproductive effects will be presented. Toxicity classifications, toxicity of chemical classes and special topics of epidemiology, risk assessment, indoor air quality, regulations and relationships with legal, media and the public will be summarized.
