AHERA Initial Management
Planning for Asbestos

March 25-26, 2010
October 7-8, 2010
Chapel Hill, North Carolina

This 2 day EPA approved AHERA course will introduce participants to the components of a management plan dealing with asbestos in a structure. This course meets the requirements under AHERA for accreditation of management planners. AHERA Building Inspection for Asbestos initial course is a prerequisite.

This course is an EPA-approved course and is approved by the State of North Carolina. If you are involved in asbestos abatement outside North Carolina, please check with that state to verify this University of North Carolina course will be accepted in that state. You may check the status of Training Providers on the EPA website.

  • Review of Asbestos Regulations
  • Reinspection Reports
  • Specifications for Response Actions/Role of Other Professionals

  • Developing an Operations and Maintenance Program

  • Examination

Examination Information

A closed book examination of 50 multiple - choice questions will be offered to individuals successfully completing the AHERA Management Planner's Course. Passing score will be a minimum of 70%. Accreditation as a Management Planner under AHERA is based upon course attendance, participation, meeting the requirements set forth by the state in which you are requesting accreditation and passing the examination.
